Most companies use both insiders i.e. employees to do the testing and also people from the outside, especially those who have a keen knowledge video games. Their feedback is important because of their impartial views. 

The very first thing you must do is make contacts. Looking through the daily want ads will not be the answer. You have to go to the companies that actually create and develop games. When you contact them, you should let them know who are, how long you have been playing games, how advanced you are at playing games, and the list of games you normally play, and of course that you would like to become a video game tester along with the reasons why. Be sure to include what game systems you own.

The number one rule is – Do not sound like a gaming nut and inexperienced. Your letter should be professional.You can on the other hand, talk about how great you are at playing video games and how many hours you sit and play to conquer a game.
